Mary (Dolly) Dietz Sellers, 86, passed away at 7:25 p.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at Medicalodge of Frontenac following a brief illness. She was born August 5, 1928, at Weir, KS, the daughter of Arthur Paul and Minnie Virginia (Burns) Dietz. She lived in the Pittsburg, KS area all her life. Mary attended schools in Cherokee County and then helped raise her nephew, Gene and niece, Judy before marrying Lee Roy Sellers in 1950. They later divorced. She was a hard worker, a very giving person and worked at various jobs over the years. While Lee was on the road as a truck driver, Mary was at home, raising the seven children. She was an excellent seamstress, making the kids clothes. She planted a garden every year with the help of the children and all are good gardeners today because of her. Mary cared for her mother and others in the family over the years. In her early years of marriage, she was known for entertaining and cooking for friends and family. Survivors include, Carolyn (Ken) Hightower, La Cygne, KS, Paul Sellers, Zapata, TX, Sandy (Dan) Huntsinger, Pittsburg, KS, Marci VanNess, Wichita, KS, Phil (Roberta) Sellers, McCune, KS, Chris Sellers, Cherokee, KS, Julia Younger, Pittsburg, KS, thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and two daughters, Margaret and Marilyn Sellers. A private memorial service and burial will be at a later date.
