Suspect arrested in Girard stabbing incident

On Thursday April 17 at approximately 5:27 P.M., 42 year old Brian L. Taylor of Girard was arrested for attempted first degree murder.

The suspect was arrested without incident by the Girard Police Department and Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, and then transported to the Crawford County Sheriff’s office.

Taylor was arrested for the alleged stabbing of Jeff Terwilliger which occurred on Wednesday April 16 at around 5:50 P.M. The Girard Police Department and Crawford County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched and responded to a fight in the 200 block of North Ozark Street in Girard. Before officers could arrive on the scene, the victim was discovered walking in front of Girard City Hall with apparent wounds.

Officers rendered aid until Crawford County EMS arrived on scene. The victim was identified as Jeff Terwilliger, a 42 year old male with injuries from a knife. The victim was transported by EMS to Girard Medical Center and later life-flighted to a hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

 The incident is still under investigation by the Girard Police Department and Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
