Girard Volleyball
The Lady Trojans defeated Frontenac in three sets (13-25, 25-17, 25-18) and Baxter Springs in two sets (25-17, 25-17) to win substate and punch their ticket for state. Ashley Ray recorded 22 kills, and MaCahla Leslie added 20 in the two games. Trisha Elder recorded 56 assists. Girard earned the four seed at state which will be held at the Bicentennial Center in Salina on October 31 and November 1. On Friday, Girard will play Iola at 9:30, Nickerson at 11:30 and Clay Center at 1:30.

 
Girard Cross Country
The boys’ team finished second at regionals, and the girls’ team finished third, so both teams will be heading to state to run. The boys will run at 10:00, and the girls will run at 11:30 at the Wamego Country Club on Saturday.

 
Girard Football
The Trojans clinched a playoff berth with a 45-7 win at Burlington. Girard rushed for 339 yards, led by Kord Curran who gained 107 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. Girard will play Iola on Thursday to determine the 4A-II District 3 champion. If Girard clinches a district championship, they will likely host the Columbus Titans in a first-round playoff matchup.

 
St. Paul Volleyball
After a first-round bye, the Lady Indians defeated South Haven in two sets (25-18, 25-21) before defeating Flinthills in three sets (25-27, 25-23, 25-15). St. Paul will play on Friday in Hays at the FHSU-Gross Memorial Coliseum. St. Paul will face Waverly at 4:30, Goessel at 5:30 and Clifton Clyde at 7:30.

 
St. Paul Cross Country
Jenny O’Bryan took first place at regionals and will look to defend her state championship earned last year. Her sister, Sarah O’Bryan, took second place at regionals and will look to bring home some hardware as well. The girls will run at the Wamego Country Club at 11:00 on Saturday.

 
St. Paul Football
The Indians suffered a 49-22 loss at Marais des Cygnes Valley to officially eliminate St. Paul from playoff contention. With the win Marais des Cygnes clinched the 8M-I District 1 championship, and the final spot will be decided when Uniontown and Waverly face each other this week. St. Paul will look to end their season on a bright spot when they host Moran on Thursday.

 
Southeast Volleyball
The Lady Lancers defeated Cherryvale (25-25, 25-13), Neodesha (16-25, 25, 20, 25-20), and Erie (25-22, 21-25, 25-20) to punch their ticket to state. As the eight seed, Southeast will face Douglass at 3:30, Wellsville at 6:30 and Lakin at 7:30 at White Auditorium in Emporia.
