On February 11, 2015 at 7:44 am, Crawford County 911 received a call of an injury accident at the intersection of 140th Street and 650 Avenue north of Girard, KS.
On arrival, responders found a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, owned by David/Michelle Robinson of Farlington, KS and a 1994 Ford Ranger, owned by Jonathan/Christa Beckman of Walnut. Both vehicles had extensive damage.
The investigation indicates that the Ford Ranger, driven by Jonathan Beckman, 16 years of age, was eastbound on 650 Avenue, the Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Matthew Robinson, 15 years of age, was southbound on 140th Street. Beckman failed to yield at a stop sign and the two vehicles collided in the intersection.
Jonathan Beckman was transported from the scene by helicopter to Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO. A passenger in Beckman’s vehicle, Lilly Beckman, 12 years of age, was transported to Girard Medical Center by Crawford County EMS. Both suffer from possible head, neck and spinal injuries. Matthew Robinson refused medical treatment at the scene.
Assisting at the scene were Girard Police and Crawford County District #4 Fire Department.
This incident is still under investigation by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
