With district ramifications on the line, the Trojans gave it their all Friday night against the Osawatomie Trojans. Girard looked to capture a key win on a senior night.
It was all Girard from the very start of the game as the Trojans went on to win, 43-0.
Senior Evan Troike kicked things off giving the Trojans excellent field positioning after a kick return. This field positioning would lead to senior Kreed Curran running in a 3-yard touchdown as Girard struck first.
In the first offensive possession for Osawatomie, Girard would force a fumble recovered by junior Caden Lallemand. The recovery would lead to the Trojans going with Curran again for the one-yard run putting the Trojans ahead 15-0 at the end of the first.
In the start of the second, Lallemand would strike again on defense forcing an interception and giving the Trojans excellent field positioning, Yet again, the Trojans would strike with a touchdown throw with the senior connection of Ty Norris to Evan Troike.
in the third, sophomore Dee Wideman stripped the ball from the quarterback and ran the ball in for a touchdown pushing the Girard lead further.
Girard would go on to win in a complete game from the offense as well as the defense. The Trojans stifling defense grabbed 5 turnovers in their 43-0 victory.
“I just told them we complimented each other very well tonight, the defense got some turnovers and we gave them some short field,” said Coach Neal Philpot.
With the win, the Trojans are set to face the Parsons Vikings in a district playoff matchup Friday, October 26.
