Obituary: Donna Lucille McClelland

Donna Lucille McClelland, 93, of Girard passed away at 4:25 P.M., Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Homestead of Girard.

Donna was born November 11, 1929 in rural Pittsburg, Kansas to Roy and Dorothy (Whiteside) Wilkerson.

She attended Base Line and Gem Rural Grade Schools. She graduated from Crawford Community High School, Cherokee, Kansas in 1947.

Donna worked as a clerk typist 6 years at the Crawford County Abstract Company in Pittsburg.

She married Fred McClelland May 7, 1955 at the First Baptist Church in Cherokee. She was then a homemaker and bookkeeper for McCelland Sanitation for many years. She worked part time as a clerk at the Crawford County Register of Deeds for 27 years until retirement in 2001.

Donna was one of the founding members of the Girard Bible Church where she was Sunday School teacher with young children for many years.

Survivors are a son, David McClelland and his wife Candi of Girard; her granddaughter Amy Klaassen and her husband Chris of Omaha Nebraska and Marla Kraft and her husband Jeremy of Myrtle Beach South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Klaassen, Lauryn Klaassen, and Gracyn Kraft; two sisters, Maxine Vandry of Paducah, Kentucky, Marilyn Ford of Springfield, Missouri; one brother, Glen Wilkerson of rural Pittsburg, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Fred McClelland, her parents and a sister, Wilma Wilkerson.

Funeral services for Donna Lucille McClelland were held Monday, June 19, 2023 at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home of Girard with Pastor Noah Hartmetz officiating. Burial followed in the Girard Cemetery.
