Esther (Jodie) Lowman, 86, of Girard, Kansas died at 4:03 a.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at her residence in Girard.
She was born July 6, 1929 in Argonia, Kansas, a daughter of Charles and Cora (Raser) Shirley. Esther grew up and attended schools in Milan, Kansas and graduated from Milan High School in 1947.
She was a homemaker and a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Esther enjoyed her family, watching wrestling and soap operas on television, reading, playing the piano, and playing games with her grandchildren.
Survivors are her daughters, Dianne Robertson, and her husband, Gary, of Arma, Kansas and Bev Frakes, and her husband, Jim, of Girard; her sons Robert Lowman, and his fiancé, Norma, of Girard, Jim Lowman, and his wife, Dina, of Girard, Dan Lowman of Girard, and David Lowman, and his wife, Lisa, of Greenwood, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; her caregiver, Teresa Brauer of Brazilton; her cat, Blu.
Esther was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Lowman Poulin, on July 30, 2011; her brothers Don and Bill Shirley; her sisters, Cora Shirley and Ann Fox.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Chaplain David Wood and Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home where friends may call after 1:00 p.m., Sunday.
