Trojans fail to get their offense going against Fort Scott

By Nick Corn

After a first quarter that ended 4-4, Fort Scott turned on their offense and never looked back as Girard struggled to hit shots.  Devin Alters and Austin O’Dell had two points apiece in the first quarter.  The Trojans had their best quarter offensively in the second as they were able to put up eight points, but Fort Scott scored 20 to take a 24-12 lead into halftime.

Girard was outscored 21-4 in the third quarter as O’Dell and Kross Hamblin were each able to make a basket.  Hamblin scored the Trojans’ only two points of the fourth quarter as Fort Scott extended their lead to 55-18 to take the victory.  On Monday, January 20, Girard will take on Erie at 5:00 in the north gym at the Wilson County Tournament in Neodesha.  The Trojans will also compete in Neodesha on Tuesday and Thursday of  next week.
