A Pittsburg man who shared obscene images with his PC faces federal prison.
On Feb. 18, the court sentenced John Tyler Gariglietti, age 32, to serve 96 months for one count of distributing child pornography, said Barry Grissom, U.S. Attorney for the District of Kansas. The sentence followed a guilty plea.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Hart tried the case in Wichita after work by the Wichita Police Department, Kansas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Gariglietti confessed to storing illegal imagery since 2011. According to U.S. Code Section 2252, he faced a range of five to 20 years in prison per count.
It is a federal offense to produce, distribute, receive or possess a sexual image of anyone younger than 18 via means connected to an interstate or foreign party, including any Internet device.
Grissom commended Hart and law enforcement for their work on the case.
