Obituary: Teresa Kay “Wheeler” Brooks

Teresa Kay “Wheeler” Brooks, 77, of Liberal, Missouri died at 5:09 A.M. Friday, June 23, 2023 at Via Christi Village at Pittsburg, Kansas.

Mrs. Brooks was born April 5, 1946 at Pittsburg, Kansas the daughter of Anthony (Tony) and Mary Zoe McKay Panizzi. Teresa was a retired Underwriters Insurance Agent who lived in the Mulberry area most of her life. She was raised in Mulberry and graduated from Mulberry High School in the Class of 1964. She had worked for Western Insurance in Ft. Scott, Bank of Mindenmines, and Barton County Mutual Insurance in Liberal, Missouri. She married Bobby Wheeler on September 5, 1965 in Mulberry, Kansas. Mr. Wheeler preceded her in death March 22, 2006. She later married Phil Brooks on June 30, 2007 at Lamar, Missouri. He preceded her in death February 2, 2014. Survivors include two daughters, Bobbi (Bill) Harvey of Liberal, Missouri and Toni (Bruce) Bartlett of Lockwood, Missouri, one sister, Gloria Peterson of Overland Park, Kansas, five grandchildren, Miranda Harvey, Trevor (Darby) Harvey, Haley Bartlett, and Kelsey Bartlett, and a great grandson, Samuel Harvey. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Bobby and Phil, a sister, Mary Grannon, and a brother, Ronald Panizzi.

Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, Kansas with the Rev. Joel Dermott officiating. Burial will be at the Rosebank Cemetery at Mulberry, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Wednesday at the Bedene Chapel prior to the funeral service. The family suggests memorials to the Mulberry Funeral Dinner Fund. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
