Obituary: Stanley F. Thomas

Stanley F. Thomas, 65, of Girard, went to be with the Lord Friday, November 13, 2015 at 5:36 a.m., in the Via Christi Hospital of Pittsburg.
Stanley was born November 23, 1949 in Girard, a son of Joseph and Esther (Burns) Thomas.  Stan Thomas OBIT
Stanley grew up in Girard and attended Girard schools; graduating from the Girard High School in 1967.
On August 28, 1971 Stanley was united in marriage to Theresa Treiber at St. Joseph Catholic Church in South Mound, Kansas, she survives of the home.
Stanley was employed as a foreman with the F.M.I. Business Forms Inc. of Girard until failing health caused him to retire.
He served in the United States Army Reserves. He was a member of the American Legion of Girard and the St. Michaels Catholic Church of Girard, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
For nearly 30 years, Stanley enjoyed his time as a volunteer with the Evans Family Motor Co. of Girard. Stanley had a zeal for life and although he was in poor health he still found the strength to share his wit and love with others; he was a fighter until the end and will be missed by many. He was very proud of his family and took great pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities. He enjoyed his pets, gardening, fishing and Royal’s baseball.
In addition to his wife, Stanley is survived by a son, Robert Thomas and wife Kelly of Girard, three daughters; Tami Brinegar of Pittsburg, Cindi Muia and husband Joseph of Girard, Jodi Adams of Girard; one brother, Randy Thomas of Girard.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Larry Thomas.
Mass of Christian burial for Stanley F. Thomas will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 17, at the St. Michaels Catholic Church of Girard with Fr. Roger Lumbre as Celebrant; burial will follow in the Girard Cemetery. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 16 at St. Michaels Catholic Church; visitation to follow. Friends may call at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home after 2:00 p.m. Monday.
