Obituary: Flossie Irene Humble

Flossie Irene Humble, 88, of rural Pittsburg, passed away at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the Via Christi Hospital.

She was born October 5, 1926 at Cherokee, KS, to Sam H. and Alice F. (Easter) Ulery.  She graduated from the Cherokee Community High School of Cherokee.    Flossie Humble

On September 21, 1945, she was united in marriage to Eugene F. Humble, Sr. at Pittsburg. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2004.

She was a member of the Church of God of Pittsburg, Kansas. She was a very compassionate person. She loved gardening and loved her flowers in her yard. Flossie helped farm with her husband, while raising the children.  The grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life.

She is survived by two daughters, Rose Mary Bliss and her husband, Glenn of Pittsburg and Beverly O’Brien and her husband, Bernie of Hepler; two sons, Eugene F. Humble, Jr. and his wife, Deborah of rural Pittsburg and John Robert Humble of rural McCune, KS; one brother, Merle Ulery of Miami, FL; one sister, Ruth Zaccarello of Dallas, TX; and ten grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Wayne Humble, two daughters, Linda Grant and Deborah Crain and son-in-law, Dale Crain; three grandchildren, Travis and Gail Ann Crain and Justin Todd “JT” Grant; one brother and three sisters.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 24) at Brenner Mortuary with Pastors Mark Smithson and Richard Smithson co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherokee City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 11 a.m. to sign the register. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the Pittsburg Church of God, Pittsburg, KS.
