Obituary: Donald Dean Pyle

Donald Dean Pyle, 90, of Girard, died at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, November 22, 2015, at his residence in Girard.
Don was born May 20, 1925 at Farlington, Kansas, a son of Donald D. and Nettie (Cooper) Pyle.  Don grew up and attended schools in Farlington, Girard, and Grass Valley, California.
He served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater during W.W. II. Don Pyle
Don married Aurelia Marie Scassellati on October 1, 1946 at Sacred Heart Church in Frontenac.  They celebrated 69 years of marriage last month.  Marie survives of the home.
He worked as a salesman for Quality Milling and Supersweet Feeds, both of Girard.  He also worked at the Girard High School after retirement.
Don was a radio commentator for Girard High School Football and was Master of Ceremonies for the Girard High School Alumni for many years.
He loved taking care of his family and friends, maintaining his yard and garden, and following sporting events of his sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
For over 69 years, Don was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Girard.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the George C. Brown Post No. 26, American Legion of Girard.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Marie, of the home, are sons Tom Pyle, and his wife, Biddy, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Mike Pyle, and his wife, Janelle, of Frontenac, and Steve Pyle, and his wife, Sarajo, of Girard; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his brothers James, Bob, Jackie, and Thomas Pyle.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at St. Michaels’ Catholic Church in Girard with Fr. Max Biltz as celebrant.  Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
The Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at St. Michael’s Church where friends may call after 4:00 p.m., Tuesday.  Friends may call Tuesday from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m., at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
Memorials are suggested to St. Michael’s Church or “Angels Among Us” and these may be left at the church or the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
