Betty J. Hibdon, 88, of Hepler, died at 1:15 a.m., Monday, November 8, 2021 in the WestRidge Retirement Community in Girard.
Betty was born October 23, 1933 in Hepler, the daughter of Raymond and Vauda (Guss) Winterbower. She grew up near Hepler on the family farm and attended a country school before graduating from Hepler High School in 1951.
Betty married Carl R. Hibdon on September 24, 1955 in the Hepler Christian Church. Carl preceded her in death on August 7, 2006.
She was a housewife and worked as a cook in the Girard and Hepler School District No. 248 for 43 years.
Betty attended the Hepler Christian Church and after the church closed, she attended the United Methodist Church in Farlington. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren,
cattle, gardening, and cooking for all the school kids.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Miremadi, and her husband, Said, of Wichita; her sons, Carl D. Hibdon of Hepler and Steve Hibdon of Farlington. 8 grandchildren: Tiffany Gould, Alan Hibdon, Jon Fuhrmann (Gina), Jesse Fuhrmann (Ginny), Jessica Hibdon, Emily Hibdon, Allison Hibdon, and Lauren Hibdon. 4 great-grandchildren: Emily Gould, Jacob Gould, Lucas Fuhrmann, and Axel Fuhrmann. Her sisters, Helen Bower (Perry) of Fort Scott and Lucille Spurling (Walter) of Girard; a brother, Don Winterbower (Charlotte) of Hepler.
Betty was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Hibdon, on June 19, 1966, and a brother, Lee Winterbower.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday at the Hepler Cemetery with Lela Simpson officiating. Burial will follow the services.
Friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
