Fatal accident occurs in Bourbon County

 

A three-vehicle accident leaves one dead and one injured in Bourbon County early Wednesday morning.

According to Kansas Highway Patrol at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8, a 1988 Ford Ranger driven by Hunter Kovacic, 15, of Stark was headed northbound on Hwy 69 five miles south of Ft. Scott.

Kovacic crossed over the centerline into the southbound lane sideswiping a 2008 Ford F350 driven by Anthony Alexander, 57, of Parkville, Kan. before colliding head on with a 2007 Kenworth semi driven by Billy Rabbit, 40, of Pryor, Okla.

Alexander was not injured during the accident but Rabbit was transported to Mercy Hospital in Ft. Scott with injuries.

Kovacic was pronounced dead on scene and was transported to Frontier Forensics Mortuary.

Both Alexander and Rabbit were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
