Obituary: Gary R. Wilson

Gary R. Wilson, 66, of Girard, Kansas, passed away at 2:15 a.m., Monday, January 1, 2018, in the emergency room of the Girard Medical Center.
He was born June 24, 1951 in Pittsburg, Kansas, a son of Ralph and Margaret Jean (Schneider) Wilson.
Gary grew up in the Walnut and Hepler, Kansas areas and attended Girard High School.
He served in the US Marines from 1969 until 1971 and he served in the US Navy from 1972 until 1974.
He married Marguerite Markham on June 27, 1970 in Pittsburg and she survives of the home.
Gary owned and operated C & J Propane Company of Girard since 2005.
Gary enjoyed his family, raising cattle, motorcycles, and attending auctions.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Marguerite, of the home; a son, Jerry Wilson, and his wife, Christie, of Liberal, Missouri; granddaughters Emily Fast, and her husband, Keith, and Abigail Wilson; his mother of Girard; a brother, Everett Wilson of Wichita; sisters Nancy Kountz of Joplin, Missouri, Patty Ozebeck of Texas, and Sharon Shepherd of Eldon, Missouri.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, a daughter, Terrie L. Wilson, on February 8, 2006, and a sister, Janice Keopke Wilson.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday at the Mapleton Cemetery with Military Honors given by the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Parsons, Kansas. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard where friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Thursday.
