Girard girls place first at Columbus

The Girard varsity girls’ golf team placed first in their outing at the nine-hole Columbus Invitational Thursday, Sept. 28.

The Trojans were propelled to victory by their stellar individual placings, with no team member placing outside of the top 15.

Notable among them were Cierra Brumback and Shelby Smith, who nabbed the first two places with scores of 49 and 54, respectively. Team member Mary Kate Smith came in with a 55, placing fourth overall, while Marci Heatherly and Marcy McDonald rounded out the placings with respective scores of 60 and 63. Full placings of each competitor are below.

The Lady Trojans’ next meet will be Tuesday, Oct. 3, at Baxter Springs.
