Since 1935, Evans Motors has been a constant fixture in Girard. As of today, the lot is empty.
Owner Nate Evans confirmed that Evans Motors has closed the Girard location and will consolidate the dealership at the Evans Motors property located at the corner of highways 69 and 171 just south of Pittsburg.
“We opened the Pittsburg location in the summer of 2007,” Evans said. “It is such a high traffic area at that corner.”
Evans said he values the Girard community and relationships built over the years, but the move is a business decision.
“We recently expanded our lot in Pittsburg and we need more vehicles to fill our 4 acre lot,” he said. “We don’t want to leave Girard, but we need to be fair to our business and the opportunity for us to grow.”
Long time sales manager Eddie Walsh will join Evans at the Pittsburg location.
“It’s been 9 years since I was able to work alongside Eddie,” Evans said. “I’m really looking forward to that.”
Walsh is looking forward to working with Nate as well, but is sad about the move.
“I believe it is the right thing to do, but we are all ‘gut sick’ about leaving Girard,” Walsh said.
Although their business may not physically be in Girard, Evans assures that their commitment to their Girard customers and friends will remain intact.
“I would like to thank the community for years of support to our family and our business,” Evans said. “I hope that the community will remember us when shopping for a vehicle and I would like to invite all of our friends and customers to our newly expanded location. No matter where my business is, Girard will always be home for my family. ”
The Girard property is for sale and listed with Jason Lehman, Pro-X Realty.
