Obituary: Lynn David Crumpacker

Lynn David Crumpacker, 83, of Girard, died at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 21, 2016 in the Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
He was born June 29, 1932 at rural Girard, a son of David F. and Lena (Stroup) Crumpacker. Lynn Crumpackeredited
Lynn attended Round Prairie Grade School near Girard and graduated from Cherokee High School in Cherokee, Kansas in 1950.
He served 17 months in Korea while in the US Army from 1952 until 1954.  He received a Korean Service Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, a United Nations Service Medal, the R.O.K. Presidential Unit Citation, and a Good Conduct Medal.
Lynn married Juanita Mae Bolinger on April 22, 1951 in the Osage Church of the Brethren near McCune, Kansas.  Juanita preceded him in death on July 1, 2007.
Lynn worked for 39 and one half years throughout southeast Kansas as a superintendent at Midwest Minerals before retiring in July of 1994.
He was a member of the Osage Church of the Brethren and the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Parsons, Kansas.  He was a past member of the Steven Bennefeld Post No. 7479, Veteran of Foreign Wars, of Girard.
Lynn enjoyed his family and family gatherings, watching his grandchildren participating in sports, camping, and fishing.
Survivors are a son, David L. Crumpacker, and his wife, Mary, of Girard; Lynn’s companion, Margaret Nelson, of Girard; grandchildren Farrah Askew, Lynnita Hutson, and her husband, Miles (Chops), Missy Mlekus, and her husband, Jeff, Derek Crumpacker, and his wife, Brittany; a sister, Wilma Toepher of Kansas City, Kansas; great-grandchildren Anthony, Haylee, Brandon, Keonte’, Alexis,  Dejah,  Aliyah, Brooklyn, Jevon, Boston, Breighlynn, and another great-grandchild due in August of 2016.
Lynn was preceded in death by a son, Danny G. Crumpacker, on November 29, 1996; his brothers Marvin Dean Crumpacker, Lynn’s twin, Glen Crumpacker, and an infant, Estel Crumpacker.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Pastor Dale Samuels and Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating.  Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery with military honors given by the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, of Parsons.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Monday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home where friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Monday.
