Obituary: Kenneth L. “Ken” Evans

Kenneth L. “Ken” Evans, 89 a resident of Crawford State Lake, Farlington, Kansas passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at his residence.  Kenneth Evansedited
Ken was born June 3, 1927 in Girard, Kansas, a son of John Raymond and Flossie Irene (Lamb) Evans.
He attended Girard Schools, graduating from the Girard High School.
Immediately after graduation Ken joined the United States Navy, proudly serving his country in the Korean conflict.
Ken returned to Girard after his service in the Navy and joined his father in the Evans Motors sales dealership.
He married Marilyn Kirkpatrick in Girard in November of 1947, they later divorced.
In addition to his duties with the dealership, Ken served as a member of the USD # 248 school board; he was also active in the Lions Club of Girard.
After providing many years of service in the dealership to the people of Girard and the surrounding area Ken moved to California to pursue other interests.
After several years in California, Ken returned to Girard to be near his expanding and loving family.
Ken is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Breneman and husband Roger of Girard, a daughter-in-law, Meg Evans, five grandchildren, Meghan Tersinar, Erin Senecaut, T.J. Evans, Gabe Evans, Nate Evans, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Greg Evans and one brother, Richard Evans.
Services for Kenneth L. “Ken” Evans will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 7 at the Girard Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home after 2:00 p.m. Monday.
