Obituary: Helen L. Standlee

Helen L. Standlee, 55, of Girard, passed away at 3:45 p.m., Sunday, September 11, 2016 at her residence at rural Girard.  STANDLEE OBIT MUG
Helen was born September 25, 1960 in Pittsburg, Kansas, a daughter of Frank A. “Cotton” and Louise G. (Evans) Standlee.  She grew up in the Pittsburg and Cherokee areas, attending Southeast High School and Fort Scott Community College.
Helen worked at Wiseman Discount Tires in Frontenac for 5 years.
Helen was of the Christian faith and she was a member of the George C. Brown Post No. 26, American Legion Auxiliary of Girard.
She enjoyed her family and taking care of her loved ones, horseback riding, traveling, bowling, dancing, softball, and watching her son compete in martial arts tournaments.
Survivors are her daughter, Tabitha D. Ricketts, and her husband, Randall, of Emporia; her son, Mark A. DeBoutez of Pittsburg; her grandson, Jordan Ricketts; her life partner, Lonny Geier, of Girard; her brother, Jerry Standlee, and his wife, Jeannine, of Pittsburg; her sisters, Colleen Standlee of Webb City, Missouri and Debbie Pike, of Girard; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Warren Pike.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at the Garden of Memories Cemetery with Pastor Clif Redden officiating.  Burial will follow the services and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
