Obituary: Bennie C. Augustin

Bennie C. Augustin Sr., 83 of Girard, Kansas, formerly of Walnut, Kansas passed away at 7:55 a.m., Friday, November 11, 2016 at the Girard Medical Center.
Bennie was born March 14, 1933 in Kimball, Kansas, a son of Claus and Ethel (Franklin) Augustin.

On December 27, 1969 he was united in marriage to Colleen M. (Christiansen) Fox at the First Christian Church of Girard, Kansas.
Bennie was a farmer and stockman in the Walnut area his entire life. In 2000 he and Colleen moved to Girard and even with failing health Bennie continued to manage his farming and cattle operation.
Bennie served his country during the Korean conflict.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Girard, the American Legion of Walnut, Kansas and served as a board member of the Glenwood Cemetery Foundation of Walnut, Kansas.
Survivors in addition to his wife include four sons. Bennie Augustin Jr. and wife Sabrina, Charles Fox and wife Linda, Roger Fox all of Walnut, Kansas, Lee Fox and wife Rose of Chanute, Kansas, four daughters, Becky Messinger and husband David of Girard, Kansas, Peggy McAtee and husband Richard of St. Paul, Kansas, Vicki Small and husband David of Olathe, Kansas and Patty Brewster of Overland Park, Kansas, twenty three Grandchildren, twenty seven Great-Grandchildren and four Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Harold Augustin, two sisters, Juliet Herod, Mardell Norris and one granddaughter, Karen Messinger Hacker.
Services for Bennie C. Augustin Sr. will be 10 a.m., Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home of Girard with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery, Walnut, Kansas with Military Honors presented by the V.F.W. Post 704 of Parsons, Kansas. Visitation will be Thursday, November 17 from 6 till 8 p.m., at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Friends may call at the Funeral Home after 1 p.m., Thursday.
