Robert E. Sherer, Jr., 54, resident of Hepler, Kansas passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 in Joplin, MO. He was born on June 9, 1962 in Stockton, California to his parents, Robert Eugene Sherer, Sr., and Ida Belle Ownbey Sherer.
Robert lived in the Jay and Grove, OK area most of his life. He graduated from Jay High School, The Class of 1980. Then he continued on with his education and graduated from Fort Scott Community College Truck Driving School. He Managed B&J Storage in Grove for Jim Eaken for 25 years, and currently was employed with Melton Truck Lines out of Tulsa Oklahoma as an over the road truck driver.
Robert loved traveling, riding his Harley, watching his son Zack play football and basketball for the Girard Trojan’s, spending time at family get togethers with family and friends, enjoying time at the Casinos. He also loved telling stories, oh how he enjoyed telling stories to his friends and strangers. As the saying goes, Robert never met a stranger.
He is preceded in death by his Father, Robert Sherer Sr. and Mother Ida Belle Ownbey from Jay, OK; Granny Clark from Jay, OK; and his Sister, Beverly Hill from Georgia. Robert is survived by his wife, Sandy and Son Zackary Shendo of the home; Step-Daughter, Ashley Fitzgibbon Denny and her husband Andy; granddaughters, Emerie (his little britches) and Andilyn from Grove, OK; Step-Sons, Bradley Fitzgibbon from Gunnison, CO, Shaun Innocenti and his wife Taylor and grandson from Fort Hood, TX, Douglas Innocenti from Grove, OK, Isiah Innocenti and wife and grandson from California; Sisters, Bobbie Lord and her husband Tom from Jay, OK, Brenda Brewer from Oregon; Mother- In- Law and Father- In- Law, Ruth Ann and Frank Wilson from Grove OK; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Robert’s Celebration Of Life Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, 2:00pm, June 1, 2017 in the Chapel of Lawson’s Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W. Gray St, Jay, OK 74346. Followed by Robert’s Inurnment Committal Service at Duffield Cemetery, Jay, OK. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Lawson’s Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with Shaunda J. Lawson 3rd Generation Owner/Funeral Director and Staff.
