Shirley Ann Fry, 77, of Girard, died at 3:23 p.m., Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the Medicalodge in Girard.
Shirley was born December 16, 1940 in LaGrange, Georgia, a daughter of Eugene and Grace (Cook) Bagley. Shirley grew up and attended schools in Georgia before moving to Kansas.
She was a certified nurse aid at the Heritage Nursing Home in Girard, Fort Scott Manor in Fort Scott, before retiring from Sunset Manor in Frontenac in 2005.
Shirley married Melvin Fry on April 18, 1980 in Miami, Oklahoma. He survives of the home.
She enjoyed her family and especially her grandchildren, collecting angels, and she was a very good cook.
She and Melvin attended the Baptist Church in Girard for several years.
Survivors include a son, Sam Brooks, and his wife, Angie, of Mulberry; her daughters, Michelle Fry of Pittsburg and Tammy Carter, and her husband, Quentin, of Neosho, Missouri; her step-daughters, Rhonda Theiman of Shawnee, Kansas and Terri Cox, and her husband, Monte, of Bonner Springs, Kansas; fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her sisters, Sally and Katherine.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Linda Brooks, a sister, Nancy, and her brothers, Tom, Bull, Bobby, and Lewis.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday at the Farlington Cemetery with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Friends may call after 2 p.m., Wednesday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
