Gerald (Butch) Silvers, 67, of Girard, Kansas, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 in the Girard Medical Center of Girard.
Gerald was born May 27, 1949 in Carthage, Missouri, a son of Oscar and Frona (Hutchins) Silvers.
He graduated from Hume Missouri High School.
On December 28, 1968, Gerald Silvers and Patricia Collins were married in Pittsburg, Kansas and she survives of the home.
Gerald was injured and disabled while serving his country in the Vietnam conflict.
He enjoyed fishing, listening to Johnny Cash, traveling and buying, selling and trading different items, especially cars.
Gerald was a member of the D.A.V. and was of the Christian faith.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Patricia, of the home, are sons Gary Silvers, and his wife, Jodi, of Girard and Jerry Silvers of Neosho, Missouri; a daughter, Patty Torres, of Pittsburg; a brother, Carl Silvers, and his wife, Kathy, of Newton, Alabama; sisters Kay Dunkle, and her husband, Donald, of Webb City, Missouri and Betty Tyler of Columbus, Kansas; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Gerald was preceded in death by two brothers, Jacky Silvers and Melvin Silvers; two sisters, Doris Ogle and Louise Williams.
Graveside services for Gerald E. Silvers will be 2 p.m., Thursday at the Girard Cemetery with Pastor Christine Iannucilli officiating. Casketbearers will be Vicente Torres, Joshua Silvers, Jason Silvers, Harry Bechtle, Nathan Bechtle, and Andrew Faucett. Military Honors will be conducted by the Ft. Riley Funeral Honors Detail.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday.
