OBITS: Juanita M. Schultz

Juanita M. Schultz, 95, of Girard, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015 at 11:55 a.m. at the Prairie Mission Nursing Home of Saint Paul, Kansas.
Juanita was born February 28, 1919 in Pittsburg, Kansas a daughter of John W. James and Ola May McGuire.
Juanita grew up in Girard; she attended Girard Schools and graduated from the Girard High School in 1937.
After graduation Juanita worked for a photo shop in Pittsburg. While in Pittsburg Juanita met the love of her life, Harold L. Schultz, they were united in marriage on January 3, 1942; he preceded her in death on April 6, 1945.
Juanita traveled with her husband while he served his country in the United States Army. She moved to Kansas City, Missouri as Harold received his orders to serve his country in Europe; Harold was killed in action on April 6, 1945.
Juanita remained in Kansas City where she worked as a legal secretary until returning to Girard in 1991 to help cJuanita M. Schultz Photo 001are for her mother and brother, Arthur “Tuffy” James.
Juanita was a member of the First Christian Church of Girard, the ladies Garden Club of Girard; she served as a helper in the Girard Thrift Shop; a member of the Beta Sigma Phi; the George C. Brown Post No. 26, American Legion Auxiliary and the Steven Bennefeld Post No. 7479, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, both of Girard; Friends of Historic Girard; the Sunflower Study Club and Rebekah Lodge, both of Girard.
Juanita raised a nephew, W.L. “Bud” James.  Survivors include Bud and his wife Ruth of Girard; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and great-nieces.
In addition to her husband, Juanita was preceded in death by four Brothers; Darwin L. James, Arthur W. “Tuffy” James, Leon M. James, Leslie L. James; two sisters, Crystal Leigh James and Evelyn M. (James) Watts.
Services for Juanita M. Schultz will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 21, at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral home in Girard, Kansas with Reverend Doug Amend officiating; burial to follow in the Girard Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 20, at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home where friends may call after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
