The St. Paul Lady Indian basketball team fell to the Frontenac Raiders 57-50 Thursday, Jan. 12.
The second quarter is what ultimately decided the game for the Raiders, as they scored a 25-12 advantage to take a 30-21 lead into halftime.
In the third, Frontenac again won the quarter when they led 41-30 at the buzzer.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Indians were able to chip away at the lead but were unable to hit late shots.
Though St. Paul turned up the pressure, Frontenac was able to draw fouls or prevent the Lady Indians from knocking down jump shots.
When the fourth quarter ended, Frontenac was able to walk away with the 57-50 win.
The Lady Indians were led in scoring by an emerging Emily Winter, who had 20 points on the night. She shot an impressive 9 for 14 from the field.
Katelin O’Brien added 15 points for St. Paul, which included two three-point buckets.
With the loss, St. Paul fell to a 6-2 record on the year.
The Lady Indians will be back in action next week when they travel to Cherokee to play in the Southeast-Lancer Classic mid-season tournament. St. Paul tips off Monday at 8:30 p.m. vs. Erie.
