Girard residents woke up to an unpleasant surprise earlier this week when it was discovered that vandals had climbed to the top of the Coop grain mill and graffitied an expletive. The graffiti was easily seen from the ground.

Fortunately, thanks to good Samaritans Amanda Smardo and Seirra Roberts, the graffiti has now been painted over and the Coop looks as good as new.

Despite the sudden rain showers last night, Smardo and Roberts braved the approximately 100-foot climb armed with only cans of white spray paint, donated by Sherwin Williams. Within a few hours, the graffiti was gone.

The Girard Police Department is currently investigating the vandalization, but there is no word yet regarding what progress they have made.
