St. Paul surpasses Altoona-Midway with ease

The St. Paul Indians’ girls and boys basketball teams enhanced their records on the season to 12-2 and 8-6, respectively, after victories against Altoona-Midway on the road last night.

During the girls’ game, St. Paul struggled to find competition from Altoona-Midway.

At the half, the Lady Indians had already established a 40-4 lead but did not stop there.

St. Paul added another 18 to the scoreboard in the third quarter, while Altoona-Midway failed to score any.

The Lady Indians earned the victory with a final score of 61-6 after scoring three in the fourth quarter and allowing two points.

Katelin O’Brien led St. Paul’s offense throughout the night by scoring 15 points.

On the boys’ side, Altoona-Midway put up some fight to make St. Paul work for the victory.

The Indians easily established a 17-2 lead in the first quarter and further augmented their lead in the second quarter by scoring 19 additional points and allowing eight.

St. Paul continued to overpower Altoona-Midway in the second half, outscoring them 15-8 in the third quarter and 18-10 in the fourth quarter.

With a final score of 69-28, St. Paul’s boys bounced back from their loss to Jayhawk-Linn earlier this week.

St. Paul’s Brenden Doherty led the team’s offense with 18 solo points against Altoona-Midway.

The St. Paul Indians’ next matchup will be Monday, Feb. 12, as they host Southern Coffee County.
