Teddy Walton Leigh, 84, of Girard, died November 3, 2016, at his home. He was born May 30, 1932, at Girard, son of Jack and Onota Leigh. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Girard. He graduated from Girard High School and graduated with an engineering degree from Purdue University, Indiana. Ted was a Navy veteran. He worked at Hughes Aerospace in Southern California and Germany. After retirement he moved back to Girard where he was an active genealogy volunteer in the community and libraries in Girard and Pittsburg, Kansas.
Survivors are his brothers Jack (Opal) Leigh, Gene (Patsy) Leigh, Don Leigh, and sister Kay (Wayne) Huning, and nieces & nephews Karen Barnette, Jack C. Leigh. Richard Leigh, Theresa Boening, Tim Leigh, Jeff Leigh, Janet Leigh, Jay Leigh, Tom Leigh, Marcie Ketcher, John Leigh, Steve Huning, Angela Woirol, and Ross Huning. Ted was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dick Leigh.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Girard Cemetery with Pastor Dallas Peterson officiating. Military honors will be given by the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Parsons, Kansas.
Service arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral home in Girard.
