Obituary: Scott Lee McVey

 

Scott Lee McVey, 46, of Girard, died Monday, February 20, 2017 at his residence in Girard.
He was born January 16, 1971 at Iola, Kansas, the son of Merrill F. and Terry Rae (Stoll) McVey.
He grew up and attended schools in Iola, Chanute, and Pittsburg.  He attended college in Manhattan, Pittsburg, and graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
Scott worked as a manager at the Super 8 Motels in Fayetteville and later in Pittsburg before managing the dairy section at Walmart in Pittsburg.
He was a member of The Presbyterian Church in Pittsburg where he sang in the Chancel Choir and played in the Hand Bell Choir.
He was a past member of the Girard Lions Club and he enjoyed bowling, camping, and fishing.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Ralph Cox, of the home; a step-brother, Randy Cox, and his wife, Patty, of Severy, Kansas; a step-sister, Linda Fletcher, and her husband, Darren, of Haysville, Kansas.
Scott was preceded in death by his father and a step-sister, Lori Ross.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2017 at The Presbyterian Church in Pittsburg, Kansas with Pastor K. O. Noonoo officiating.
Friends may call from 1 p.m.- 5 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to The Presbyterian Church in Pittsburg and these may be left at the church or the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
