Obituary: Beverly J. Lasco

Beverly J. Lasco, 73, of Walnut, Kansas, died at 10:09 a.m., Sunday, September 13, 2015 at her residence, surrounded by her family, after a short illness.  Beverly Lasco OBIT PHOTO
She was born May 1, 1942 in Watertown, Wisconsin, the daughter of Harry and Esther (Hintzmann) Finder.
Beverly married Ray Lasco on May 27, 1964 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They were self-employed farmers, raising crops and livestock in Antioch, Illinois through 1976. They then moved to Columbia, Missouri and continued their farming operation through 1980. They moved to Graff, Missouri where they operated a dairy until their divorce in 1983. Beverly continued the dairy operation, selling it in 1985. Beverly received training and was the first woman to graduate in cattle breeding from the American Breeding Service in De Forest, Wisconsin before moving to Franklinton, Louisiana in 1985, where she owned and operated AI Breeding Service before selling the business in 1999.
During the 90’s, Beverly and daughter Cheryll raised and showed Brown Swiss Cattle throughout the south.
In 1991, Beverly was the first woman to attend a prestigious round table at the American Breeding Service, working with top cattle breeders worldwide.
In 1999 she joined her family at Walnut where she was co-owner and manager of the Circle L Dairy, where she continued to milk her beloved Brown Swiss dairy cattle.
In 2011 the family dissolved the dairy operation and Beverly joined her daughter in owning and operating the Beautylynn Green Houses at rural Walnut.
Beverly enjoyed her family, cooking, spending time on the farm, church activities, gardening, attending dairy shows and canning.
She was a member and elder at the First Christian Church in Girard, she attended Tillery at the church and she was a past-member of the diaconate.
Survivors include her daughter, Cheryll Lee of Walnut, and her fiancé, Kevin Swope, of Erie, Kansas; her son, William Scott Lasco, and his wife, Susan, of Liberty, Kansas; grandchildren Traci Lasco of Topeka, Kansas, Morgan Lasco of Liberty, and Bryan McCartney, and his fiancé, Katrina Durham, of Temple, Arizona.
Beverly was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Elizabeth Lasco, in 1973; a brother, Ken Finder, in 1984 and Ray Lasco in 1992.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Girard with Pastor Paul Elliott and Steve Smith officiating. Private family committal services will be held at a later date at the Lasco Family Cemetery near Walnut
