The Girard Lady Trojans hosted the Oswego Indians Tuesday night in their first contest back from winter break, and the game was never in question.

After one, Girard held a 22-5 lead. Calea Augustine led the attack with eight of her 10 total points in the quarter, and Sydnee Crain scored six of her game-high 16. DeeDee Copenhaver added four. The Lady Trojans stayed hot in the second, scoring 16 points and their defense stiffened even more, only allowing one point in the quarter.

At halftime, Girard held a 38-6 lead. After three quarters, Girard owned a 39-point advantage, and they ended the game with a 56-23 victory. Behind Crain and Augustine was Ashley Ray with eight points, while Megan Gray and Morgan Herlocker each scored five in the game. “I’m very happy with the way the girls played tonight,” said Head Coach Brad Herlocker. “We came out focused and executed our game-plan from the start.”

Next week, the Lady Trojans will host Columbus on Tuesday and Fort Scott on Friday for two challenging home games.
