A crash involving a piece of farm equipment and a vehicle closed 47 highway, one mile west of Girard for hours Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 5:50 p.m.

A 1998 Caterpillar tractor driven by Hunter Kavanagh, 19, of Girard, was eastbound towing a farm implement.

A 2004 Ford driven by Joshua Prince, 37, of Arma, was also eastbound approaching Kavanagh. Prince then struck the left rear corner of the towed implement causing him to lose control and drive off into the south ditch and overturn.

Prince was transported to Via Christi with injuries and was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Kavanagh was wearing a safety restraint and was not injured in the incident.
