Bank merger becomes official

The Girard National Bank is very pleased to announce that the merger of University Bank into Girard National Bank has been completed effective Tuesday, October 6. University Bank locations in Pittsburg, Arma, and Galena will continue to operate under the name University Bank, branch GNB.
Mark Schifferdecker, Girard National Bank President & CEO, stated, “We are thrilled to have completed this merger. University Bank has done an excellent job of serving their customers in the Pittsburg, Arma, and Galena areas, and we look forward to continuing this same quality service. University Bank has a tremendous staff, and we plan to make no changes to staffing or services. By combining our resources, we believe we will be able to offer unparalleled banking services to Southeast Kansas.”

University Bank, branch GNB customers should notice no changes in their accounts or services at this time. The bank plans to complete its data conversion in mid-February, at which time all University Bank customers may access their accounts and services at any Girard National Bank location and vice versa. However, effective immediately, all bank customers may use both University Bank, branch GNB or Girard National Bank ATM machines with no fee incurred.
